- Jeep introduces the new Cherokee Trailhawk.
- The image shows a more aggressive front bumper with red tow hooks.
- When this rugged SUV is launched it is expected to have a higher ride height, skid plates and larger tyres.
Jeep has teased the upcoming Cherokee Trailhawk for the first time. This will serve as a strong off-road offering for the model.
The image alone reveals little. It shows the headlights, which look unchanged, located above a redesigned front bumper. The front end looks more aggressive, with a red tow hook.
If it’s like the previous Cherokee Trailhawk, it will have a pair of tow hooks at the front and a pair at the rear. It should also include increased ride height, improved approach and departure angles and skid plates.
Jeep previously previewed the Cherokee Trailhawk alongside the Cherokee Upland at the Easter Jeep Safari. That SUV had an upgraded suspension, a revised face that looks similar to the teaser images, and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 31.5-inch Falcon Wildpeak A/T rubber.
One aspect that remains a mystery is the powertrain and whether Jeep will upgrade it. The Cherokee is currently available with only one option – a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder hybrid paired with a continuously variable transmission.
It produces 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque and comes with the Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 system. The last Cherokee Trailhawk used Jeep Active Drive Lock 4×4, which continues to be used in the 2026 Compass Trailhawk.
Jeep says it will share more details about the Cherokee Trailhawk at a later date.
Motor1’s Opinion: It felt strange when Jeep launched the fifth-generation Cherokee with the rugged Trailhawk trim, but we’re glad the automaker is rectifying this omission. The Cherokee is one of the brand’s most important models – one that needs to show customers what Jeep has to offer.
