Should GM build a new Chevy Silverado 1500 SS high-performance street pickup truck? The world is still talking about the world debut of the 2027 Silverado 1500 lineup. Chevrolet plans to offer seven different trims of its latest full-size pickup truck, but the Street Muscle Truck isn’t on the list. The question is – would you buy the new Silverado SS if it were available?

We provide a rendering of what the 2028 Chevy Silverado 1500 SS could look like. This is a TFLtruck.com rendering and there is no information from GM about this model.

What power would such a truck get? Chevrolet says the new Silverado 1500 6.6L V8 shares a lot of similarities with the new LS6 Corvette 6.7L V8. Naturally, the truck’s engine is tuned for high torque and low horsepower. Chevrolet did not provide any Silverado 1500 power specifications at this time. This information is coming later this year.

Corvette engine tuning focuses on high horsepower figures. The new 2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport is rated at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. The Corvette’s torque numbers are impressively high. This could be a great engine for the new Silverado 1500 SS.

Why this? Stellantis is back with a trio of new street muscle trucks: the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble B, Rumble B 392 and Rumble B SRT. The Rumble is powered by the Apache version of the B392 6.4L HEMI V8 engine rated at 470 horsepower. The Rumble B SRT is powered by a supercharged Hellcat 6.2L HEMI V8 with 777 horsepower.

Ford is offering the F-150 Lobo with a 5.0L Coyote V8 that is rated at 400 horsepower. It can be supercharged at the dealership to produce approximately 700 horsepower.

GM can jump into this game with its own SS model that produces nearly 500 horsepower from its V8.
