Ergorig was showcasing the second generation of its handheld camera support vest at Cine Gear 2026 in Los Angeles. Ergorig II V1 builds on the original design with several hardware improvements driven by user feedback directly from operators, and adds two optional accessories – Counterforce and Undersling that expand what the system can do on set.
what does ergorig do
The ErgoRig is a waist-based support system that transfers the entire weight of the handheld camera rig from the operator’s spine to the hips. Unlike arm-based systems like EasyRig, ErgoRig does not attach to the camera itself, meaning the camera remains free to be balanced appropriately, which is a major ergonomic advantage when working with heavy cinema setups for extended periods.
What’s new in version two

Major addition new in V2 shaft beltwhich was the most requested feature from existing ErgoRig owners. The original V1 used a clip-based fastening system, but the ratchet mechanism provides operators with the precise, repeatable fit familiar to Steadicam vests and other professional support gear. It tightens quickly, stays securely in place throughout the shoot, and releases easily when needed. Ratchet Belt also available as a standalone upgrade $275 USD for V1 owners ($233.75 USD during current sale).
V2 also introduces quick pop latch For on-the-fly adjustments, it makes it easy to fine-tune the fit between setups without completely removing the rig.

The ErgoRig II is available in two chest configurations. classic Place the front strut on the right side of the chest, while centerfit – Originally developed for operators with larger builds that place it at the center. Both provide similar weight transfer performance; The choice depends on personal preference and comfort during operation. Two torso lengths are available, short and long, based on the measurement from the front hip point to the top of the shoulder: less than 20 inches (50 cm) is short, more than 20 inches is long.
reply

optional reply ($275 / $233.75 on sale) The accessory addresses one of the more common frustrations in handheld work: front-heavy cameras. While a properly balanced camera is always preferable, productions routinely require operators to shoot with long zooms or heavily configured rigs that shift the center of gravity significantly further away from the body.

The Counterforce uses an elastomer band running from the back of the camera to a tension-adjusting cleat on the back of the belt. The band creates resistance that balances the front weight without adding any mass to the camera. Crucially, the operator retains full pan and tilt control – the system reduces the effort required to steady front-heavy configurations. The tension is instantly adjustable, and when not in use the counterforce hardware remains attached to the rig, ready to connect or disconnect in seconds.

Undersling and low mode

undersling with riser ($895 / $760.75 on sale) adds low-mode capability to the ErgoRig system. By hanging the camera under the arm of the vest, operators can position it at any height without having to hold it overhead, an important option when a director demands a low-angle mid-setup. The system uses the same elastomer band principle as Counterforce, but with a thicker band and provides the same full weight transfer to and from the spine. The elastic also helps absorb some of the step vibrations that typically appear in walking shots.
is included riser Adds height and acts as a quick release, making the transition between low mode and shoulder mode faster without completely breaking the rig.
