Slate has also released powertrain specs. The EV will tow up to 2,000 pounds with a payload capacity of up to 1,550 pounds. The company also quotes 205 miles of range for the truck, a claimed 37 percent increase. The 65 kilowatt-hour pack can charge up to 120 kilowatts, taking the battery from 20 to 80% charge in just half an hour. At 11kW, the battery will charge from 20-100% in about four hours. With 181 horsepower and 194.7 lb-ft of torque, power from the single electric motor at the rear should be enough to make the Slate feel fast. We’ll see how these specs stack up against Ford’s new competition in the coming months and years.

Slate’s truck will offer customers a choice of wheel and tire options

Slate says more than 175 accessories can be added to customer cars. The brand’s business will be customizable, but a strong focus on affordability with accessories exists. Over 80’s cost less than $500, while a full vehicle wrap will also cost “under $500”. Otherwise all the slate models come with the same gray color scheme.

The company has also focused on usability and longevity for buyers. By partnering with RepairPal, these accessories can be DIY or professionally installed. A 10-year/110,000-mile battery and powertrain warranty is also included.

The Slate truck will be smaller, with the trucks overall length being about seven inches shorter than that of the Toyota RAV4. With the tailgate down, extend the bed all the way, and owners will have access to 80 inches of cargo capacity.

The slate will allow customers to add custom wraps, colors, and even speakers.

Slate’s entire business is based on customization. Everything from in-car speakers to more seats and personalization options, there’s an option. Specific pricing for items like this remains a question mark, but we’ll find out when the slate models debut later this year.
