Warning: The following contains spoilers dragon house Season 3, Episode 2
Being a Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons is essentially asking for trouble. There’s a big red bullseye on your back, even if you’re polite and uninterested in family matters like Helena Targaryen (fia saban). In dragon house Season 3, Episode 2, everyone’s favorite playful (and unfortunately incestuous), silver-haired dragonriders find themselves in harm’s way in some capacity. It’s all about the choices that move the chess pieces on the board.
The outcome of the Gullett fight is devastating for both sides, and it’s an overall strong follow-up to last week’s action-packed performance. Let’s take a look at six key takeaways from the episode.
Rhaenyra’s reaction to Jace’s death
Ollie Upton/HBO
Oops. emma d’arcyI’ll now write down that Emmy speech and set aside some space on your mantle. D’Arcy’s reaction to Jace (Harry Collett) Death after Bella (bethany antonia) brings his body back to Dragonstone, it’s like a dagger to the heart. This is very visceral. They open up to Rhaenyra in the most beautiful, vulnerable way. What a powerful artist.
Damon is chatting with Ulf and Hugh
Comedy! dragon houseThe second episode of the season brings levity to the serious proceedings. I’m waiting for the daemon (Matt Smith), Ulf (Tom Bennett), and Hugh (Kieran Beau) to interact with, and their views do not disappoint. Our evil prince has no patience for Ulf’s mischief, and poor Hugh does his best to support his friend while staying on the temperamental Damon’s good side.
Aemond captures Harrenhal (and what happened next)
Like uncle, like nephew. Following in Daemon’s footsteps, Aemond (evan mitchell) captures Harrenhal in episode 2. I love that we see him knocking people out on the ground. It’s a stark reminder (in case you’ve forgotten about the training scenes in Season 1) that Aemond is a formidable warrior, even if you take the world’s largest dragon out of the equation. Meanwhile, Whagger burnt some strongles to a crisp – you know, the usual girly stuff.
Unfortunately, Aemond kills Ser Simon Strong (Simon Russell Beale) and his son, but this act leads him to Alice River (Gail Rankin), an important part of their story in the dance to come.
result of fish feed
We don’t see the fishfeed, also known as the Battle of the Lakeshore, on screen, but we’re blessed with its outcome. Damon, Roddy the Ruin (tommy flanagan), Oscar Tully (Archie Barnes), and their host of Rivermen celebrate their victory with a loud song and plenty of wine. finally we met Alisanne Blackwood, also known as Black Ellie (annie shapero). This is a great little scene.
Bella and Elin in the Gullet

Ollie Upton/HBO
if you have read george rr martin‘S fire and bloodYou know that Bella and Elin’s (Abubakar Salim) Roads cross in this story. Without spoiling anything, as a book reader, it’s fun to watch their interactions in the gulet. Antonia and Salim have an effortless chemistry.
I also love that we see Bella, Elin, Adam (clinton liberty), and Corliss (steve toussaint) Together they watch High Tide burn. Corliss with his two sons and granddaughter. He is keeping what little family he has left, and is on better terms with Elin and Adam, even proposing to legitimize them.
Rhaenyra beheads Otto before ascending to the Iron Throne
RIP, Ser Otto Hightower (rice ifans). At least now you’re starring in Apple TV famous city. Anyway, Daemon urges Rhaenyra to behead Otto, the traitor to the crown, before he ascends the Iron Throne. Rhaenyra’s proceedings are shadowed by grief, and she struggles to control the burdensome Dark Sister, making the act of staining her hands blood tempting.
This means that in many ways he is officially part of the war as a combatant. His crossing through the pool of Otto’s blood to reach the Iron Throne is a reminder that the path to Westerosi glory is usually painted red.
