It’s very hot there! It appears there isn’t much we can do about our overheating planet, so if you want to enjoy the outdoors during these dreadful summer months, you’ll need to be prepared with ways to stay cool and hydrated.

That’s the general theme of this week’s batch of gear, which mostly focuses on different ways to deal with the sun for runners, cyclists, hikers, or just people who are at risk of heat exhaustion while walking their dog for 10 minutes (looking at you, Arizona).

Find apparel and gear to stay cool and look great in the latest and greatest rising gear.

If you haven’t heard of New Zealand performance wool manufacturer Nuyarn, you need to be wary. This comfortable, high-performance fabric is used by many outdoor brands, including GearJunkie’s top guides to the best base layers for men and the best base layers for hunting.

Nuyarn recently announced a new partnership with the emerging brand unknown runnerBased in Flagstaff, Arizona – a state that knows a thing or two about hot weather. Unknown Runner Chooses Nuyarn for Its First Clothing Line: The courser collection.

This capsule of ultra-lightweight performance merino wool is specifically designed for runners and trail runners facing hot, changeable conditions. The 115-gsm merino-blend fabric combines an open-knit structure with 63% merino wool, 29% polyester and 8% nylon.

“The result is an ultralight fabric that breathes exceptionally well, dries quickly, and maintains performance through repeated use in tough conditions,” Nuyarn said in a news release.

Gomist Yourself

We first wrote about this gomist water bottle In 2023, when it caught our attention at the ICAST Awards. Judging by the bottle’s dwindling availability on the Extreme Mist website, it clearly remains a popular item as summer temperatures reach triple digits in many parts of the country.

But the brand has also expanded its lineup. Perhaps most notable is that you can now opt for Gomist Misting Cap For $50. It is compatible with many models of Hydro Flask, CamelBak, Nalgene, ThermoFlask and some other threaded bottles. you can also get one Misting Hydration Vest For $189. I haven’t tried these products yet, but I can imagine they’ll make me quite popular with friends during social bike rides.

Hydrapack Fuelkit

Although it looks like a fancy lunchbox, Hydrapack’s latest offering is likely to find a fan among serious runners. fuel kit ($80) is designed to “make storing, carrying, and mixing nutrition a little less messy and more organized,” the brand said in a release.

It comes with some fun accessories that runners obsessed with hydration might love, like an adjustable scoop and a collapsible funnel that attaches to the drink-mix bag for easy filling. You can combine the bag with a Hydrapack 250ml nutrition flask (sold separately as a two-pack for $32), which features interchangeable caps designed to handle runners’ fuel viscosities and fueling preferences.

“As more destination races are on the rise and runners are finding the motivation to travel, a dedicated fuel storage container that takes care of space is a great addition as runners prepare their refueling setup,” the brand said.

summer sleeping pad

When it comes to camping sleep systems, many of us aim for something in the middle of the R-value range (a measure of the insulation used for the sleeping pad and sleeping bag, among other things). The main reason for this is that most of us want to buy just one pad that will work well for multiple seasons. But just as cold winters require a higher R-value, camping in high summer is more comfortable with a lower R-value sleeping pad.

Thankfully, you can get one of the new Static V Sleeping Pad For just $50 from Klymit. Their super-low R-value is just 1.5, which is perfect for summer. According to the brand, these pads inflate in just 10-15 breaths, pack in the size of a Nalgene bottle, and weigh 18.7 ounces. They also come in four different colors.

Cherry Limeade Hydration Powder

You’ve probably noticed that it’s been hot enough to cook an egg on the sidewalk lately. If you’re still crazy about working out in these conditions (like me), staying hydrated is important for a speedy recovery.

A (good tasting) sports drink is important, and limited edition Cherry Limeade from Gnarly Nutrition Looks very tasty right now. This may create instant nostalgia for Sonic Slush, albeit with much less sugar. Additionally, Gnarly teamed up with mountain biker and artist Brooklyn Bell, who designed the packaging, and a portion of every sale supports the women-focused No Man’s Land Film Festival.

cotton/hemp for runners

Despite the long-standing dominance of polyester in performance apparel, natural fibers are increasingly in vogue among outdoor athletes.

One emerging player in that field is Montreal-based Siel Athletics. The brand’s newest capsule is ParadisA five-piece collection that takes some of the brand’s outdoor apparel and adds some aesthetic flair inspired by Paradise, a town in northern Canada.

I would say the best thing here is NSPTshirt (for men And women), primarily because it uses Siel’s cotton and hemp blend instead of synthetic fibers. The lineup includes breathable, packable headgear as well as new colors for the ATShort 4”, a swimmable run short that is also chlorine and salt water resistant.

New England brand Velocio has attracted a loyal following for its expensive but high-quality cycling gear, especially its apparel.

This trend continues with its summer releases, which include Lux Ultralight Bib and jersey collection. Velocio said these threads are perfect for “mid-summer epics,” featuring compression fabrics, mesh foot bands and stretch knits to reduce weight, and lightweight, breathable fabrics made from a blend of polyamide (nylon) and elastane.

there is a new one too hydration pack ($200), which comes with a 1.5L HydraPack reservoir, expandable cargo pocket, and fast access to essentials. Velocio also donates 1% of profits to environmental causes. ।

hybrid running shoe

Teva made a good splash last year with the release of its R2T Sandal, a running sandal that has won over a few hearts here at GearJunkie. Now the brand is releasing a shoe version of that model for those who still find the idea of running in sandals a little weird.

Avantrail R2T Shoe It’s a “full coverage” version of that sandal, Teva said, but it retains the same hybrid mentality of tackling both roads and trails. It features a mesh upper, Hyper-Comf midsole with supportive EVA foam, and Teva’s Spider Rubber Endure outsole.

It also features tiered traction lugs (3.5 mm) and Teva’s patented W strapping system, which replaces traditional laces. They have a drop of 6 mm and a height of 37 mm/31 mm (for women) and 39.5 mm/33.5 mm (for men). They are available for men and women for $150. विशेष विशेष

portable bike tire inflator

Every cyclist should have a portable inflator for those frustrating flat tires – and they’re more likely than ever during the summer months.

This is especially true for road cyclists using Presta valves, which is fairly new. Airforge Mini Pump / CO2 Inflator To handle. This update of the Ninja Pump from Portland Design Works looks even sleeker. More importantly, it now has a press-fit nozzle that “eliminates” the risk of accidental valve core unthreading (a common problem for many similar inflators).

The Airforge also has a “simplified” CO2 delivery system with no need for a control knob – you release the CO2 by twisting the cartridge. It also comes with a water bottle boss mount.
