CFMoto's future superbikes are getting Brembo brakes. This should tell you the direction of the company

CFMoto recently signed a new strategic partnership with BremboAnd the wording here is making much more impact than the usual corporate handshake fluff. The Chinese bike maker says this isn’t just a supplier deal, meaning we’re probably not talking about CFMoto picking shiny calipers from the Brembo catalog and calling it quits. Instead, both companies plan to co-develop braking systems for medium to large displacement motorcycles in the future.

That part matters.

Brakes are one of those things that riders immediately notice, especially as bikes get bigger, faster, heavier and more expensive. A good spec sheet might get people curious, but brake feel, feedback, ABS tuning and stability are what keeps the bike from turning into a rolling trust exercise. If Brembo is involved from the early R&D stage, CFMoto could end up tailoring braking systems to specific models instead of bolting on premium hardware and expecting everyone to clap.

It’s also a clear indication of where CFMoto wants to go next. The brand asked the question “Wait, it’s actually that good?” Spent many years in the making. The company, especially with bikes that undercut Japanese and European rivals in terms of price. But once you start building things like big ADVs, nakeds, sport-tourers, and V4 SR-RR prototypes, the old budget-brand livery starts to get a little tight around the shoulders.

There’s also a fun KTM subplot here. KTM is shifting some bikes towards the WP braking system, which makes sense since WP sits inside the same general orange class. So while KTM brings that stuff in-house, CFMoto is headed straight for Brembo’s big red reliability button. This isn’t meant to be dramatic, but it makes CFMoto’s path more independent and much more premium-focused.

The racing angle also helps.

CFMoto already competes in Moto2 and Moto3, while Brembo is everywhere in the Grand Prix paddock. This gives the partnership an easy story to tell for regular riders: The company that helped stop race bikes from turning into expensive confetti is now helping CFMoto develop the street bike of the future.

The big thing here is simple: CFMoto is no longer just trying to make an affordable option. It seeks to build motorcycles that rival established premium machines without making any excuses about price. Brembo won’t magically solve resale value, dealer confidence, or long-term brand perception overnight, but it gives CFMoto another serious piece of the puzzle.
