We are knee-deep in the hottest swamp of the summer. That means it’s high time you stocked your wardrobe with easy, breezy shirts for the warm weather — because as tempting as it may seem, you can’t survive in tank tops alone for the next two months. You need button-ups that are breathable enough to survive brisk travel, yet polished enough to meet all the demands of your busy social schedule. The ideal summer shirt looks perfect with swimming trunks at the beach, but also makes perfect sense when worn with pleated trousers on date night.
To narrow the field, we asked a handful of menswear experts to share their best summer shirts. Their answers range from timeless tops to fresh-faced gems, all of which deserve a spot in your seasonal rotation.

Ragolia, the powerhouse creative behind some of the most viral red-carpet moments in recent memory, came right through with a selection from emerging New York label Oberlo. The brainchild of designer Julien Lui, the brand has won over menswear inner circles in recent seasons with sleek, sexy clothes that push the familiar silhouette slightly off center. Ragolia particularly likes the brand’s easy-to-wear shirts. “It’s simple, cute, and any folds work for you—not against you,” she says. “It’s perfect for summer.”
Nick Wooster, Design Consultant
Leave it to menswear giant Wooster to recommend the most famous shirt maker of all time: Charvet. Parisian tailors have been creating the most beautiful dress shirts in the world for nearly two centuries. “It’s cut straight down with a classic fit, but you can still tuck it in half because there’s a vent on each side,” Wooster says of the house’s trademark style. “Even if you’re wearing a bathing suit and a chervet shirt over the top, you’ll be well dressed and look really good.”
