on episode 290 of The Menace Podcast, Dennis James and regular panelists Milos Saracev and Chris Cormier were joined by special guest William Bonac, who explained that at age 44, he’s still seeing progress in his body, won’t be taking another break, and has no desire to drown out the negative voices.

When it comes to the Olympia, Bonac has been a stellar competitor. In fact, 2026 will mark his twelfth appearance at bodybuilding’s most prestigious show. Nevertheless, many observers have pointed out that Bonac’s best results may be behind him. That’s because after coming second in 2019, the big man has not made the top five since 2020. Luckily, he told TMP that he prefers to look ahead and focus on what’s to come.

Bonac explained, “I don’t listen to what other people say.” “I don’t care about (his) opinion. But it’s just what I see, and what my coaches see.” The Open Division competitor explained that progress updates are a constant source of encouragement for him, as his body is constantly changing. He shared, “A lot of people say yes, but you looked better at your peak, and blah, blah, blah, and I don’t see it that way.”

How Bonac Avoids Regrets in Competitive Bodybuilding

“The way I look at it right now, every time I want to hang up my tights, I look like, ‘Hey, my body is getting better,'” Bonac explained about his desire to continue competitive bodybuilding. “And I don’t want to regret anything, you know?”

While the current Mr. Olympia, Derek Lunsford, is only 33 years old, he is the oldest Mr. Olympia ever chris dickerson He was followed by the late Shawn Rhoden, who was 43 but a few months younger.

Bonac has taken breaks from bodybuilding in the past, but says he’s on his way to Sin City. “I can’t be like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna stop again,'” the popular bodybuilder shared. “It’s all a waste of time again, you know I need to build muscle tissue back and so on.” Bonac opens up to the gang and understands that one day he will hang up the trunks forever, but definitely not while he feels his body is getting better.
