The length is fine. Short enough to look neat, but not so short that they look tight or awkward, and not so long that they look a little sloppy. That middle ground is what they work for.
The rest of the details are pretty sensible: an internal mesh lining, drawcord waistband, rear zip pocket and hanging loop, plus a quick-drying finish that makes them really useful. In fact, this is what you want in swim shorts, although you don’t always get it.

Overall, these swimmers are a good choice. They’re easy to make smart if you’re heading out to lunch, while still remaining practical enough for relaxing. The holy grail!
