Toyota will launch the Innova Hycross facelift in India on November 25. The update is expected to bring revised exterior styling and cabin upgrades, including features seen on the recently updated Indonesia-spec model. The strong hybrid version is also expected to get changes to support higher ethanol blends, including E30 or above. This will be the model’s first major update since its launch in 2022.
Toyota Innova Hycross facelift: Exterior and interior changes
The facelift is expected to get a revised front end with a new grille and sleeker headlamps, as seen on test mules spotted earlier. Other expected exterior changes include updated alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers and revised tail-lamps.
Inside, the Indian model is expected to get some of the feature upgrades introduced on the recently updated Indonesia-spec Innova Hycross, sold as the ‘Kijang Innova Zenix’. Higher-spec variants of the Indonesian model get a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, replacing the earlier 10.1-inch unit. Hybrid variants also get a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, while petrol versions have a 7-inch display.
The current India-spec Innova Hycross has a 10.1-inch touchscreen and analogue instrument dials with a central multi-information display. The facelift is expected to carry over the larger touchscreen and digital driver’s display from the Indonesian model. Revised seat upholstery, updated infotainment software and new interior colour options are also likely.
Toyota Innova Hycross facelift: Powertrain changes
The facelift is expected to retain the current 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol strong hybrid powertrain, with engine modifications to support higher ethanol blends. It will likely run on E30 or higher blends, although the maximum ethanol concentration it will support remains to be seen.
Toyota showcased an ethanol-compatible Innova Hycross hybrid prototype in 2024. It used a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with an electric motor, similar to the standard strong hybrid version. The prototype was designed to run on petrol blended with more than 20 percent ethanol.
If launched with this capability, the Innova Hycross facelift would be India’s first flex-fuel strong hybrid car. It remains to be seen whether the non-hybrid 2.0-litre petrol variants will also be updated to support higher ethanol blends.
The Innova Hycross facelift is expected to be priced between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
