BookMyGarage has expanded the availability of its digital safety recall and stop-drive booking solution to franchised dealer groups following Vauxhall’s recent stop-drive notice linked to the Takata airbag recall.

The platform, which has facilitated almost 6,000 recall appointments for an automotive retail group since February 2026, was designed to help dealerships manage increased workshop demand while reducing pressure on call centres.

The wider Takata recall affected 34 automotive brands globally, with some motorists instructed not to drive their vehicles until repairs have been completed.

BookMyGarage initially developed its recall booking solution for a franchised automotive retail group seeking to manage affected vehicles across its dealership network.

Since its introduction, almost 6,000 recall appointments have been booked through the system, with the platform subsequently expanded to accommodate mobile appointments, allowing technicians to carry out repairs at customers’ homes.

The solution includes a dedicated online booking system and an AI-powered video avatar that responds to customer questions using dealership-specific FAQs.

BookMyGarage said the technology could help dealer groups

BookMyGarage said the technology could help dealer groups manage the operational challenges associated with large-scale recalls, particularly where stop-drive notices prevent customers from travelling to workshops.

According to figures cited by BookMyGarage from vehicle information provider Carhealth, 72% of recalled vehicles remain unrepaired on UK roads.
