Sales report: Q2 2026 looks disappointing for full-size Ford and GM trucks, but Ram is gaining

With one very positive exception, the US full-size pickup truck market and sales in the second quarter of 2026 look bleak. GM and Ford saw their pickup truck sales decline last quarter, but Ram trucks saw a dramatic turnaround with a +14.3% gain. Naturally, there is more nuance in the data. Here are all the details. Let’s dig!

Chevrolet Silverado trucks continue to decline, especially the heavy-duty 2500/3500 lineup. Q2 sales overall decreased by -7.3% compared to Q2 2025. Silverado HD truck sales down -16.8% On the same time frame. Sales of the GMC Sierra HD lineup also declined. -8.3%. The main bright spot is the Sierra 1500 lineup that went up 11.3% In sales.

GMC says the company recorded its best-ever second quarter sales of the Sierra. GM did not cite any specific reason for the decline in sales of its HD pickup trucks. The completely redesigned 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks are just around the corner. These will be available for sale later this year. There are also rumors of an updated new HD pickup truck from GM coming soon.

Things are not looking good at Ford with the F-Series down -11.0% in Q2 2026. We know Ford faced a shortage of aluminum supplies due to a fire at a supplier facility at the beginning of the year. It’s unclear whether this problem is slowing sales. We’ve reached out to Ford for comment.

Ford provided the following guidance regarding the automotive industry in general: “The industry was strong in June, with total vehicles SAAR produced at 17.1M – the industry’s first monthly sales rate above 17M since July 2025.Let’s hope this trend continues.

Ram, on the other hand, is reporting growth in sales of its 1500 light-duty trucks 26.7%. It appears that the company’s strategy to bring back the 5.7L HEMI V8 is working. The new RAM TRX and Rumble B lineup should continue the excitement.
