Ram Trucks announced updates and changes for the upcoming 2027 Ram HD pickup truck lineup. There is a lot of good news here. Let’s dig in.
Extra Payload!
The most useful news is that 2027 Ram HD 2500 trucks with the gas 6.4L HEMI V8 get the option to increase their payload rating From £1,040. Maximum payload rating number goes to best class 4,580 pounds. This is accomplished by offering the heavier 3500-series frame and leaf springs for these 2500-series trucks.

RAM is offering the WARN electric winch as a stand-alone option on HD Rebel and Power Wagon models without the need for the Level 1 equipment group. This expands winch availability for HD Rebel trucks, and should make the HD Tradesman Power Wagon a bit more affordable.
The anti-spin rear differential is also a stand-alone option for the 2027 Ram HD Tradesman model. Get a basic work truck with a lockable rear differential and nothing else. This can also improve potency.
Sometime after the 2027 model year, Ram will also introduce Serrano Green metallic and tank clear-coat exterior colors. These colors have been popular in the 2026 RAM 1500 lineup.
Same engine and same power
The 6.4L HEMI V8 is rated 405 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque for the 2027 model year. This is the same as it was from the 2025 model year.
The 6.7L Cummins High-Output Turbo-Diesel is still listed at 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque as before.

The 2027 Ram 2500 HD HEMI V8 has 17,740 pounds maximum towing and 4,580 pounds maximum payload.
The 2027 Ram 2500 HD Cummins Diesel has 20,000 pounds maximum towing and 3,990 pounds maximum payload.
The 2027 Ram 3500 HEMI V8 has a maximum towing capacity of up to 18,140 pounds and a payload of 7,580 pounds with the dual setup.
The 2027 Ram 3500 Cummins Diesel has 37,020 pounds maximum towing and 6,460 pounds maximum payload.
Naturally, if you get a larger cab, a longer bed, a more luxurious trim level, these towing and payload ratings will be lower depending on the curb weight of a specific truck and its powertrain/drivetrain equipment.
