Triton Digital’s Sounder has added sentiment analysis, which enables advertisers to target podcast content based on emotional tone, as well as taxonomy and words used.
Triton Digital has also added Amazon DSP to its programmatic marketplace, so advertisers purchasing through Amazon DSP can now purchase Triton-powered audio ads (in podcasts and streaming audio), while also incorporating Amazon’s first-party shopping, browsing and streaming signals to help target ads. (Spotify and iHeart also recently added integration.)

When the YouTube RSS scraper came knocking, this is what was served up – podcast audio that starts with an ad, then an ad, then an ad, then an ad, then another ad, then another ad, then you guessed it, an ad… in total, eight minutes and 11 seconds of preroll ads, educating their listeners on how to hit the skip button. There isn’t a single intelligent listener out there who wouldn’t skip these prerolls. Thanks to a Podnews reader who sent this to us saying “You guys sometimes feature a section on DAI disasters or something like that” – it is indeed a DAI disaster (not least because YouTube doesn’t allow ads like this anyway). Let’s hope the new Spotify ad server, which goes into effect on Friday, will limit its prerolls to a reasonable amount for all of us.
