Pedro Acosta undergoes successful wrist surgery, aims for German GP comeback

Pedro Acosta has undergone successful minor surgery on his right wrist to deal with carpal tunnel syndrome, with the Red Bull KTM rider already setting his sights on a comeback at the German Grand Prix. The procedure took place on Tuesday morning and was completed without any complications, according to the team.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that affects countless MotoGP riders during their careers, caused by the constant physical demands placed on the wrists and arms by machinery that accelerates at speeds in excess of 360 kilometers per hour in a straight line and produces excessive forces when braking. Left unmanaged, this can significantly compromise the rider’s grip, control and feel – exactly the same qualities that separate the front end of the MotoGP field from the midfield. Addressing this now with a minor surgical procedure is a proactive step designed to ensure the young Spaniard can continue to operate at the level demanded by his prodigious talent.

While the timing in the middle of a Championship campaign is never ideal, it can still be managed. Acosta is expected to return for the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, pending a medical examination next week to confirm his fitness to race. That final appointment before the summer break gives him the chance to finish the first half of the season on the track rather than on the sidelines, and to do so with the wrist issue resolved rather than lingering on.

For Ryder Acosta, one of the most exciting young talents in the entire paddock and widely regarded as a future world champion, this news represents the best possible outcome from a frustrating situation. A short, successful procedure, a clear recovery timeline, and a targeted return to one of the most coveted spots on the calendar. The Sachsenring is waiting, and if next week’s medical examination goes as expected, Pedro Acosta will be there.
