As Americans prepare for the United States’ 250th birthday, McDonald’s is getting in on the action by bringing back a menu item that fans of the fast-food chain haven’t seen in more than three decades. Of course, whenever a well-known and established chain like McDonald’s announces the return of a popular menu item, many fans of nostalgia can’t help but squeal in excitement, and think back to the good old days of munching on the classic. However, along with this particular food option, nostalgia also brings a ridiculous amount of anxiety on social media about what its return might mean.
McDonald’s brings back the Fried Apple Pie
Starting June 23, McDonald’s is bringing back its fried apple pie at participating locations. popular sweet item was Phased out in 1992 And replaced it with baked apple pie (which, if you’re like me, you mistook for the same thing). Per McDonald’s press announcement: :
“The OG Fried Apple Pie is back at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time. The all-day menu item includes our signature filling made with 100% American-grown apples, wrapped in the same golden crunch and flaky fried crust that fans remember — or won’t soon forget.”
Not only has Fried Apple Pie taken over America’s favorite pie, but McDonald’s is also going to debut a 35-foot Fried Apple Pie at a special event in Chicagoland on June 23 from 3:30-6:00 pm CT. The festivities will include live music and complimentary Arch cards.
Laughter on Social Media: Hot Fried Apple Pie Filling Is Missing
Users on social media are reminiscing about their memories of eating hot fried apple pie, and it appears “hot” is the keyword. People are commenting on the previous temperature of the pie filling and wondering if the pie will deliver the same kind of heat again. Take a look at some of the comments I found on X (formerly Twitter).
Will the new McDonald’s apple pie still be as hot as the surface of the sun?

When I was in high school my favorite thing to do was get one of these and a plain cup of McDonald’s soft serve, dip the hot-lava (if you were lucky) pie into ice cream, and eat it ghetto à la mode. https://t.co/CHWvgcjwqo

I often got McDonald’s gift certificates as my Christmas tip from customers on my paper routes in the old days.

So the only question is, will you actually be lining up to get your McDonald’s Fried Apple Pie? Not without reason, one social media user’s suggestion to dip the pie in McDonald’s soft serve sounds interesting.
