Like, he never accepts it. “Nikki’s acting weird,” he says to Ian early on. And Ian says, “Well, did you sleep with her? Because if you did, that’s really messed up.” And (the bear) says, “No, no, I didn’t do that, I slept on the floor.” That’s a lie. He slept with her. So, you see the things that lead him to make a decision early on, but it’s only within that decision that he becomes a full-blown villain. I think it’s very smart, beautiful and very human.
Another thing that I think is more fun is Sandy (the cat) who has taken over Nikki. I drank my water about that, it was really funny. But no, Sandy didn’t have Nikki. No.
Definitely exclusive! the cat is No Nikki. (laughs)
Fixed. Yeah sorry. (laughs)
Why do you think the film is connecting with so many people?
I think Curry has done a really good job of implementing modern technology into this film while still keeping it nostalgic. And I think what my generation, the younger generation and the generation before me are looking for is nostalgia. We love that kind of homely atmosphere, this community connection that we don’t have anymore because of social media and the Internet. I think the second one is how relatable the characters are on both levels, right? I wanted to make sure Nikki wasn’t viewed as some crazy girlfriend. I wanted him to be very human. Michael (Johnston) really wanted the bear to be very human. We don’t evaluate our characters. This is for the audience to decide. So, I think it allows people to reflect and interact with that relationship. I think another part of it is how the film looks. I think it looks incredibly beautiful, and that’s because of our (director of photography), Taylor Clemons. And I think there’s an authenticity behind it that you can feel through the screen. These are all reasons why I love this movie, so I’m guessing that’s why people love it too.
Some people have called you the new scream queen of the year.
Hi God. (laughs).
Correct!
Who would you say is your favorite final girl?
Who was my favorite last girl? Hmmm- Amanda Seyfried (Inches) Jennifer’s Body) is (a final girl), isn’t it?
Yes, I would say so.
Wait, no-Naomi Aki inside Blink twice. Even technically, I don’t classify it as a horror film. I mean, it’s terrible, but it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. so, i’m going to say blink twicedirected by zoeë Kravitz, 10 Feet Under.
She is the ultimate final girl. She ends up taking complete power and complete agency over everything.
Yes, I love that movie.
What else are you working on this year?
Oh, well, those are all the exciting things I can’t wait to announce. I can’t announce them right now, but I’m really looking forward to the moment when we can do that. But I’m really excited for these next few steps and these next few movies. I think Dizziness This is such a fun movie, which is very different Passion. But I can’t wait to do movies that are more loved Passion. I was actually a little impressed by this Passion Bug, and so we will continue in the same tone.
