Ford's latest recall affects 110,000 vehicles – including the Mustang

 • Ford is recalling 110,626 vehicles.
 • Affects one Mustang, which has windshield wipers that can only operate on the high speed setting.
 • The other recall affects the Mustang Mach-E, and may cause rear differential pinion shaft fractures.

Ford has issued two recalls affecting 110,626 vehicles. So far this year, Ford has released 56 memory For over 11 million vehicles.

The major recall affects 67,842 Mustangs from 2024 to 2026, including the high-performance Mustang GTD. according to recall reportCold temperatures of 32 degrees Fahrenheit or less can cause the wiper motor to lose its Local Interconnect Network (LIN) communication with the steering column module.

If this happens, the wipers can only operate at high speed, the windshield washing system will be inoperative. This is no good when there is bad weather – snow, ice and hail can quickly cover the windshield.

The problem is due to a supplier accident in which the circuit board assembly was printed with a 32-kilobyte programming setting for a 16-kilobyte chip. This allowed the chip to be programmed with mismatched 32-kilobyte algorithms.

Ford first became aware of the potential problem in January 2026 when Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant supplier technical support team identified a report of a 2026 Mustang with windshield wipers that only operated on the high-speed setting. Once Ford understood the problem, it worked to determine which vehicles would be affected.

Ford says it is aware of 35 warranty claims related to this issue. He is not aware of any accidents or injuries involving the Viper. Ford will inspect affected vehicles and replace the wiper motors that fail.

Ford is also recalling the Mach-E. The electric vehicle may experience a rear differential pinion shaft fracture, resulting in the car losing motive power or driving unintentionally into park.

According to, the failure of the part is being caused by bending fatigue <a rel=recall report. Affected customers may have a vehicle that displays a malfunction indicator light and may throw possible diagnostic codes: P174E, P0A2F, P019C, and/or P27B2.

Ford discovered a potential problem with the Mach-E during a teardown analysis in March 2026, which revealed a failed rear differential pinion shaft on the 2023 model in Europe. It launched an investigation and discovered additional reports potentially related to this issue.

Between March and May, Ford analyzed six additional failed pinion shafts and found that each suffered a bending fatigue failure. The automaker worked with the supplier and “identified inconsistencies in part core hardness measurements,” but Ford has not yet determined the root cause of the problem.

So far, Ford says it has learned about 62 warranty claims but it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue. The automaker will fix the problem by repairing or replacing the Mach-E’s rear differential assembly, which will include a stronger pinion shaft.

Motor1’s Opinion: Ford is on track to issue more than 100 recalls this year, which is likely to outpace the rest of the industry by a wide margin. That would still be better than last year when the automaker issued 153 recalls, but we expect it to exceed the number of vehicles, which stood at more than 13 million vehicles in 2025.
