The new Makaira SEA Gold is built on the latest generation of the Makaira SEA platform to combine proven big game performance with an iconic offshore reel finish. Built on a rigid 6061-T6 machined aluminum frame with forged side plates, this body houses oversized stainless steel gearing, a forged aluminum spool and precision-machined internal components. It provides absolutely reliable cranking power and long-term performance in demanding offshore conditions. The drag system is Okuma’s Dual Force Drag System, which utilizes a Carbonite drag washer and Cal’s Drag Grease to deliver smooth, consistent drag output and effective heat management during long battles with larger fish.
