Why do we like this deal?

Amazon is discounting a large portion of the Coleman’s catalog 2026 prime day sale Now, and this isn’t just the usual one or two markdowns on camping gear. We’re seeing deals on things like the viral new collapsible cooler, some camping tents, and even this classic LED lantern that’s almost half price before the big event.

The $97 Coleman Classic Rechargeable LED Lantern is now just $51 at Amazon, and there have been over 400 purchases in the last month. This sale is only for the 800-lumen lamp, which is bright enough, but the 400-lumen option is also on sale for $40.

What shoppers need to know

  • Light Output: Up to 800 lumens on high, 300 lumens on medium, 100 lumens on low
  • Battery: Built-in 4800mAh lithium-ion battery with charge-level indicator
  • Runtime: Up to 5 hours on high, up to 45 hours on low or flashing mode
  • Durability: IPX4 water resistant, impact resistant up to 1 meter, 3 years warranty
  • Best for: Campsite lighting, power outages, emergency preparedness

Here Coleman’s 800-lumen claim really checks out, which isn’t always the case in a category where off-brand lighting labels roam freely (and largely). The output is bright enough to illuminate an entire campsite or single room without the help of a second light source, with up to 5 hours of battery life on the highest setting and up to 45 hours on the lowest. The design is also based on Coleman’s old-school fuel-burning lantern on which the brand made its name, minus the fuel canister and open flame.

Because it’s rechargeable, we’d recommend it for car camping or short backpacking trips. Even at low temperatures, you’re getting about 3 to 6 nights of illumination from a single charge. If replaceable batteries were the power source, the story would be different, but it’s still likely to be a wonderful tool for most campers.

However, which size should you get? Coleman’s small 400-lumen lantern sells for $59, and even with its current $40 sale price, the extra $10 you spend for the 800-lumen lantern gets you twice the light and the classic lantern look. Bigger may be better here.

what shoppers are saying

A helpful shopper said, “It’s bright enough for camping, backyard gatherings or emergencies,” and, “The combination of durability, brightness, and functionality make it exceptional value. Every outdoor enthusiast needs this lantern.”

The old-school look was another big draw for buyers: “Talk about classic. This lantern looks almost exactly like the original Coleman gas lantern. Of course, it uses a rechargeable internal battery and LED bulb, unlike the original gas mantle, the latter never requiring replacement.”

If you want a lantern rooted in American heritage and built for reliability, the Coleman Classic Rechargeable LED Lantern is for you. However, that $51 sale price won’t last forever, especially since it’s an early Prime Day deal.
