But this is also a filmmaker who has excelled in the studio realm, with top-tier actors, practical effects, and the large canvases those jobs afford him, so it can’t help but look a little thin by comparison. (In a clear case of “take what you can get”, this is the only Nolan film in the Criterion Collection.) That said, it would be a kick to see Nolan raise one of those limits again, possibly still at a price six grand or so above this reported cost; Imagine what Nolan of 2025 would turn into a movie under 90 minutes! Imagine if he blew up a 16mm print on those IMAX screens! next Still worth a look, and there’s no shame in its placement here.
