The CIA agent known as “The Martian” is back. After over a year of waiting, the hit Showtime/Paramount+ series Agency Will be back for season 2 very soon. Season 1 didn’t exactly end on a huge cliffhanger, but the Martians have plenty of enemies from within and without. Michael Fassbender is returning in one of his greatest roles to date as the Martian in Season 2, and we’ve got all the details about what to expect.

Season 2 is, in many ways, more expansive than Season 1, with many stories overlapping and more espionage action for agents who are not Martians. If you liked Season 1, the good news is that Season 2 is even better.

Agency Season 2 Plot and Trailer

On May 19, Paramount released the first full trailer Agency Season 2, and in this, we get complete information about this season. We get a recap of what the Martian was up to last season, and then the real plot unfolds. This season will partly be a “mole hunt”, meaning that a big aspect of this season will be finding out who is leaking data from the CIA’s London branch. (Fun fact: The term “mole” to describe someone who trades in classified information was used by spy novelist John le Carré in his 1974 novel. tinker tailor soldier spy.)

That said, not about everything. Agency Season 2 is about a mole hunt. In addition to the Martian’s quest to bring Samia to safety, there are several other missions going on, including an undercover operation with Owen (John Magaro) and another with Gremlin (Saura Lightfoot-Lyon).

Here’s the official plot summary from Paramount:

The Agency follows Martian (Fassbender), a CIA agent living undercover in his life. Samia (Turner-Smith), his girlfriend, is a political prisoner in Sudan, and he will do anything to try to save her, even to the point of betrayal. The only way out is into the depths. A knife-edge Martian must walk if he wants to save love, life, and his mission.

  • as Hugh Bonneville Jim Richardson, A senior MI6 (SIS) boss with special ties to the CIA and the Martians. Richardson has ulterior motives for obtaining intelligence by any means necessary.
  • Saura Lightfoot-Lyon as Daniela Ruiz, Codename “Gremlin,“A junior agent who appeared in Season 1, with a much bigger mission and role in Season 2.

Is Agency Changing its title?

In 2025, it was reported that Agency will now be known as Agency: Central Intelligence. As of this writing, that no longer seems to be the case, although the series will (obviously) still focus on the CIA, the central intelligence agency.

Agency Season 2 will arrive on Paramount+ Sunday, June 21, 2026. All 10 episodes of Season 2 will be released at the same time. This is a very entertaining season, so watching these episodes back to back will be very satisfying and addicting.

New episodes of the show become available on Paramount+ at midnight EST on the day of release. Apparently, unlike Season 1, all parts of Season 2 will be available at once. Also, you’ll need the Showtime add-on to watch in 2024 AgencyBut this time, you need a regular Paramount+ account!
