Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time to Be an RPG and More SFF News

Hello my little elder amber! In today’s round-up of recent science fiction and fantasy links, I have an update to share about a tabletop game being created by Adrian Tchaikovsky. children of timea look monsters and diplomacy by Megan Frampton, and the opening of a new sci-fi and horror bookstore in Alexandria, Virginia.

Hey, gamers, children of time There’s going to be an RPG by Adrian Tchaikovsky!

Somehow I missed this news when it was announced in March: children of time is by adrien tchaikovsky It’s going to be a role-playing game! The Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning novel is set in a future where Earth is dying, and humans are trying to survive on a new planet they believed to be hospitable. (Spoiler: It doesn’t.) Indie tabletop studio Rowan, Rook, and Deckard will produce and distribute a game based on the novel.

I haven’t read this series yet but I recently read Tchaikovsky’s new releases, green city warAnd I loved it, so I plan to start a series soon!

A new supernatural series is launching at the end of August! monsters and diplomacy The Ministry of Supernatural Affairs is the first book in the series written by Megan Frampton.

It is a historical fantasy set in 19th century England, where both humans and supernatural beings exist, such as Queen Victoria, who is actually a vampire. Cora Hastings works for the government and tries to keep the peace between humans and creatures, but her job becomes more difficult when Satan decides he wants to stay in this world.

“Miss Hastings,” said the Marquis, “come with me. It is not safe.”

I glared at her, then saw this hand was still on my arm. “No, it’s not. But how do I know it’s safer.” You?” After all, I had no idea how the creatures got to this world from which they originated. I shook his hand.

Her eyes narrowed, and then she took a deep breath before wrapping her arms around my waist and bending down to lift my body onto her shoulders.

I hit his ass with my cane, but it did not help in stopping him. He led me towards the entrance, then to the right, then dropped me down, without considering how I landed.

“That’s It-?” I started, then saw the Harpy, the Devil, some of his companions, the priest – who seemed clearly drunk – and some frightened market customers gathered together.

“How did it open?” The devil roared, clouds of smoke coming out of his mouth. I learned that this is what happened when he was really angry.

So maybe it wasn’t his job? I assumed it had something to do with it, but he looked just as troubled as the other creatures in the corner. Unless he’s pretending to be angry.

Honestly, this seemed above my pay grade.

“We’ll have to find out,” said the Marquis grimly. “In the meantime, you stay here,” he ordered. He met my gaze. “Stay here,” he repeated in a stern tone. “stay safe.”

Before I could respond, he turned away and went back towards where the creatures were coming out. I shrugged at the other people waiting there and one devil and took a deep breath before following her, wishing I had asked my landlady if she had any potions that could disperse the hordes of hellish creatures.

Alexandria is getting a Black-owned horror and sci-fi bookstore!

Horror and Sci-Fi Bookstore long dark house is in Set to open this fall In Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, and it feels like very nice.

“Once open, the Long Dark House plans to launch several book clubs, including a Coastal Horror Book Club, a Black Horror Book Club, a Final Girl Book Club, a Strange Futures Book Club, and a Teen Horror Society, as well as author readings, writing workshops, and tabletop gaming nights.”

The store isn’t scheduled to open for another few months, but they are hosting pop-up events over the summer. I wish I lived closer so I could participate Widow’s Bay-inspired Patricia’s Sunset Cocktail!
