On the same day Mick Jagger celebrated his last birthday in his 50s, the last film in an iconic comedy film series premiered in the United States.
Jagger, lead singer of The Rolling Stones, is celebrating his 83rd birthday today. Additionally, today marks 24 years since the third film in a beloved comedy trilogy hit theaters.
Canadian comedian and Saturday night Live Star alumnus Mike Myers starred in the 1997 film as the main protagonist, Austin Powers, and the main villain, Dr. Evil. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. After two years, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me Was released.
More stars were added to the already deep cast for the third film, Austin Powers in Goldmember. The much awaited third installment was released in theaters On 26 July 2002.
Myers also played Goldmember, a hilarious rendition of the iconic Bond villain, Goldfinger. In her first theatrical film appearance, Beyoncé Knowles plays Powers’ girlfriend Foxxy Cleopatra. Michael Caine plays Austin’s father, Nigel Powers.
Returning cast members included Michael York (Basil), Seth Green (Scott Evil), Robert Wagner (No. 2), Verne Troyer (Mini Me) and Mindy Sterling (Frau).
In 2017, Moviefone named the Austin Powers film series “The greatest comedy trilogies of all time.” For their ranking of the 100 greatest comedies of all time, Diversity kept international man of mystery At number 30.
Austin Powers in Goldmember It grossed $296.9 million at the worldwide box office, according to box office mojo.

Myers was at Trevor Noah’s World Cup watch party (h/t) People) for the France vs Senegal game on 16 June. When Noah asked Myers if there would be a fourth Austin Powers movie, the 63-year-old told him, “Yes.”
Last month, Myers (as Dr. Evil) returned for the Verizon “Men’s Mobile” commercial. Green, Sterling and Rob Lowe (he played a young No. 2 in the series) also reprized their roles.
For those who have seen Goldmember, we know that the film’s conclusion perfectly laid the groundwork for the fourth installment.
