A dozen of the School’s Upper Sixth students will be growing moustaches throughout this month as they lend their support to the national Movember campaign.
The Movember charity is aiming to ‘change the face of men’s health’ by raising awareness of, and funding research into, areas including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and overall mental and physical health and wellbeing.
Deputy Head of School, Ed (WH5) explained, “Half of Movember is about having fun and raising awareness, making sure that we all keep an eye on each other, the other half is showing everyone that it’s equally as important to speak up when something isn’t quite right. Nobody should feel as though they have to suffer in silence for fear of bothering other people or being made fun of. Your mental and physical health are equally important, and the two often go hand in hand. This month at Tonbridge, we hope to get people talking about the things we often choose to kick into the long grass.”
The boys’ primary goal is to do their part to increase awareness of these subjects, as well as to collect funds for the charity through a JustGiving page that they have set up.
