Nemo Persist 30 Review

The first thing that stood out about the Persist 30 was its clean design. It looks sleek without compromising on functionality. Low-profile daisy chains and gear loops let you strap trekking poles, helmets, or additional equipment to the outside, but stay out of the way when you don’t need them.
A large U-shaped zipper makes it much easier to access the main compartment than digging through a traditional top-loading pack. Inside, a floating sleeve divides the interior into two sections, creating a smart organization system that I immediately appreciated. I placed the items I acquired throughout the day – an insulating layer, lunch, gloves, and a trail map – in the front compartment, leaving the main compartment free for heavier gear. Large stretch-mesh water bottle pockets easily accommodated larger bottles, while a fleece-lined top pocket kept sunglasses, snacks, and my phone within easy reach. There’s also a dedicated hydration sleeve and hose port for long runs on the trail.
Nemo 30 maintains first impression
Comfort is where the Persist really sets itself apart from other hiking backpacks. Nemo’s new CCubed cushioning—made from 97 percent air and recycled materials—makes it one of the most breathable and supportive harness systems I’ve used. The shoulder straps, back panel and hip belt feel plush without being bulky, allowing for air circulation while comfortably distributing the heavy load across your body. Even with extra camera gear, layers, and a camp chair packed inside, the backpack remained remarkably comfortable during miles of hiking.

I also appreciated how Nemo borrowed ideas from trail-running vests by adding stretch pockets to the shoulder straps. They proved to be perfect for stashing energy gels, trail mix, or my phone without having to stop and dig into the main compartment.
Beyond comfort, the Persist earns points for stability. The body uses CERO recycled fabric, which not only reduces environmental impact but also provides impressive abrasion resistance and weather protection for year-round hiking.
