The British Podcast Awards 2026 released their longlist, recognizing 409 entrants across 27 categories. It is claimed that almost half of the long list are independent titles and talents. We’ve seen at least 53 nominations for the BBC, eleven for Audible, eight for Audio Always, Platform Media and Bauer Media, seven for Persefonica and Fun Kids, five for Rethink Audio, Sky News, Bloomberg and History Hit, four for Novell and Podmasters, three each for Sony and Avalon. One notable indie with a nomination: 19-year-old Answer me this!. Goalhanger, Britain’s largest independent podcast company, did not enter; It appears that even Global has not put forward its shows.
- The British Podcast Awards have announced that the final round of Listener Choice Awards – the awards voted for by listeners in the competition – will be chosen using the Spotify platform. Following an open vote on the British Podcast Awards website, the top 20 will advance to a vote which requires listeners to use Spotify to cast their final vote. “Any podcast currently available on Spotify is eligible for nomination”. Last year’s award was given to the History Podcast between the sheets.
