Bass season is underway in Washington state, and the Columbia Basin is packed with tournament activity from now through August. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and this Inland Empire Bass Club Shared a full range of programs covering Moses Lake, Potholes Reservoir, Banks Lake and more.
Whether you fish open events or just club tournaments, there is something for you in the calendar.
june tournament
The action starts fast. on 13th June northwest bass The club runs an open event at the Potholes Reservoir. The same day, the Columbia Basin Bass Club holds a members event at Wanapum Reservoir.
On June 13 and 14 the Columbia River Walleye Anglers Association will be brought to Moses Lake for an open house. Northend Bass Club also runs a members event at Moses Lake that weekend.
The third week of June becomes big. From 19 to 21 June bass angler magazine The Tournament Trail arrives at Potholes Reservoir. This is a member’s program, so check your status before registering.
June 20 and 21 will feature the Washington State Student Angler Federation (members) at Banks Lake and the Western Bass Club (members) at Moses Lake. From June 20 to 22, the Washington State Pond Jumpers held their event at Moses Lake.
july tournament
July 11th is a busy day. Northwest Bass runs Stop 3 at Moses Lake, an open qualifying event sponsored by Nixon Marine. That same day, American Bass Association Hosts an open house at Potholes Reservoir at Mardan Resort. ABA also runs an open at Washington East Potholes.
July 12, Central Washington Bass Club fishes potholes (members). On July 11 and 12, Washington Tiny Boat Nation arrived at Moses Lake for a members event.
The Columbia Basin Bass Club has its mid-season event on July 18, a two-day club event in the potholes. That same weekend, an open event on July 18 and 19 will bring the Inland Empire Bass Tournament to Moses Lake Pier 4, the Banks Lake Bass Club to Banks Lake and the Northend Bass Club to the Potholes.
On July 25, Banks Lake will be running two events: Kayak Fishing Northwest (members) and Washington State Bass Federation (open).
August tournament
Inland Empire Bass has a kids tournament on August 8th in Long Lake. There are also events that weekend for both the Washington State Student Angler Federation in Moses Lake and the Northend Bass Club in Banks Lake.
On August 15 and 16, both the Northwest Bassmasters and Washington Bass Association will be fishing Potholes Reservoir.
The month will conclude with the announcement of the Inland Empire Bass Buchanan Bass Battle on August 22 at one location, Okanogan Valley Bass Club in Banks Lake, Banks Lake Bass Club in Banks Lake (open), Capital City Bass Club in Potholes and Potholes Bass Club in Potholes.
How to register
Entry fees and rules vary by event and club. See the BAM Trail Calendar and the WDFW Tournament Calendar for current details on each event. Open events are the easiest entry point for you if you’re not already a club member.
Potholes Reservoir and Moses Lake are the center of activity. Both offer solid largemouth and smallmouth fishing during the summer. Banks Lake boasts top spots with deep water and structure that hold fish as the heat increases.
Mark your calendar. The Columbia Basin doesn’t slow down this summer.
