- ID. The Cross is essentially an SUV version of the electric Polo supermini.
- VW will offer two battery options: 37 kWh and 52 kWh.
- Customers can choose from three power levels: 114 hp, 133 hp, and 208 hp.
It’s been less than a year since Volkswagen previewed the ID. Cross, and now the concept has evolved into a production model. Positioned below the ID.4, the subcompact electric crossover is cut from the same cloth as the new ID. The Polo supermini rides on the same MEB+ platform with a front-wheel-drive layout. It was developed as an EV from the beginning and hence has no relation to the similarly sized T-Cross powered by a combustion engine.
163.5 inches (4153 mm) long, 77.7 inches (1974 mm) wide and 62.2 inches (1581 mm) tall, ID. Cross slots neatly into Europe’s subcompact segment. Even though it is a small crossover, the nicer versions can be available with larger wheels up to 20 inches while the base model gets a set of 17 inches as standard. Thanks to the EV underpinnings, VW’s engineers were able to extend the wheelbase to 102.4 inches (2601 mm), or 1.5 inches (38 mm) more than that of the T-Cross.
This is a developing story…
