A video posted on X by user @Shunyta_007 on July 7, 2026 received over 13 million views and sparked days of debate online. The clip is approximately 49 seconds long and features a man and a boy, who appears to be between the ages of seven and ten, sitting at a table in a restaurant or club while a belly dancer performs nearby.
The man gives the boy money and encourages him to tip the artist directly, directing his hands towards his chest. Later when the dancer motions for the boy to join her, the man urges her to, but the boy shakes his head and refuses. The original poster captioned the clip “Father of the Year”, a caption that many read as sarcasm and others took at face value.
A divided comment section
The answers almost immediately divided into two camps.
One group considered the footage harmless, describing it as a cultural display or a father having fun with his son in a social setting. The large and loud group pushed back forcefully, calling the man’s judgment poor and arguing that placing a child in the middle of an adult performance, then encouraging him to physically engage with the performer, crossed a line, regardless of intent.
Many commentators pointed to the boy’s body language throughout the clip, his gaze downwards and his hesitation, as evidence that he was not comfortable with what was being asked of him.
Bigger questions than a clip
Beyond individual videos, the exchange has turned into a broader argument about where the boundaries lie between children’s and adult entertainment venues.

Some users raised concerns about consent and pressure, noting that a child who is observed by a parent has a different weight than a child who chooses to participate on their own. Others raised the cultural context, arguing that norms of dance performance and tipping vary widely by region and should not be judged through the same lens.
No statement has been issued by any outlet, authority or representative of the family involved, and the man, boy and artist remain unidentified. The location of the venue has also not been confirmed. As of July 13, the post continues to spread, reposted with commentary, showing no signs of settling the debate and the original clip, attributed to @Shunyta_007, remains the primary source for nearly every version of the story now circulating across the platform.
