Vespa will celebrate its 80th anniversary with a special anniversary edition of its flagship GTS Super Tech 300, coming to Australia in limited numbers from September this year for a $15,390 ride-away.

This includes a bonus of color matching topbox with passenger backrest, folding luggage rack and Asoline Vespa Coffee Table Book for a total bonus value of $1600.

1946 was the year that started it all, a new kind of mobility was born in Pontedera, Italy after World War II. The original Vespa was a blend of simplicity, affordability and style and would bring in millions of riders.

Eighty years later and more than 20 million Vespas have gone through the production line, covering 160 variants and remain a global icon.

Now the limited-edition GTS 80th Anniversary Edition adds to that history, running a verde pastelo finish inspired by the historic green seen on some early Vespas, which extends to the shield trim, grab handle, mirrors, switchgear and even the front suspension. This is complemented by both gloss and satin finishes to highlight the chosen color.

Other features include a handcrafted tone-on-tone saddle with matching grips, floorboard insert and rear shield trim, with diamond-cut wheels again referencing the design of the 1946 Vespa 98, with 80th anniversary batching and an Est. Inscription of 1946.

The GTS 300 runs a super tech loadout, including a 4.3-inch TFT display with Vespa MIA smartphone connectivity, full LED lighting and keyless ignition.
