ROA Roamer X: $199,995 Off

ROA Roamer X: $199,995 Off

ROA Off-Road just put a house on wheels that happens to tow behind a truck. The spec sheet reads like a dare. The Roamer X starts at $199,995 and stretches 27 feet. It carries enough battery and solar to live off the grid without thinking about it. Deliveries began in October 2026, and it is sold exclusively through ROA’s four Experience Centers, by appointment. I haven’t towed it or camped in it, so this isn’t a review. It’s a first look at the most capable off-road trailer ROA has ever built. It shows what $200,000 actually buys when the road ends.

Power to live off the grid

The headline number is 2,160 amp-hours of Expion 360 lithium tucked into the floor. That works out to roughly 27.6 kilowatt-hours, about two home backup batteries’ worth. Dual 3,000-watt Victron inverters and full 50-amp service mean it runs like a house, not a camper. The solar array totals 3,160 watts. That is 1,400 watts on the roof and 960 watts built into the 15-foot Girard awning. Two 400-watt briefcase panels add 800 watts you can park in the sun while the trailer sits in the shade. An AquaHot Wave 40 system brings 34,000 BTUs of heat and unlimited hot water. Dual 18,000-BTU Chill Cube air conditioners keep it livable up to 10,000 feet.

Built to actually go off-road

The chassis is the other half of the story. The hardware includes MORryde air suspension with 12 inches of travel and a huck-riveted aluminum frame. A fully articulating ball hitch and 12-inch brake drums separate a trailer that looks off-road from one that is. Dry weight runs about 9,800 pounds against an 11,000-pound GVWR. At 27 feet it is a lot of trailer. That is why the photos show it behind a full-size Ram pickup. This is not a trailer for a midsize SUV.

A house, not a camper

Inside, the Roamer X stops reading as a trailer. The bedroom runs a king bed or split singles with a full leather headboard. The living room pairs leather recliners with tray tables and an electric fireplace with a mantle. A pull-down projector screen works with a ceiling projector. There are two full kitchens, one inside and one outside. They include a dishwasher, a two-burner cooktop, and an air fryer. There is also a floor-to-ceiling pocket door and an enlarged shower. Fresh water totals 65 gallons against 30 gray and 30 black. Pass-through storage and MOLLE panels handle the gear that doesn’t belong indoors.

What $199,995 buys against a normal camper

For scale, the Thor Rize+ 18R I covered recently starts at $130,340. It has a 100-amp-hour battery and 100 watts of solar. The Roamer X carries roughly 23 times the battery energy and more than 30 times the solar. It is a trailer built to leave pavement entirely. The first 25 Roamer X trailers are numbered Founders Editions bundling $24,500 in perks. Those perks include 10 years of Roamer Rally access, a Founders adventure, and a $2,000 upgrade credit. They also include five years of free annual inspections, an Infinity Shower, and rock lights. If $199,995 is more trailer than you need, the other end of the spectrum is a cabin tent. The KingCamp model I reviewed is at that end, but that is a different trip entirely.

The catch

The catch is access. The Roamer X is sold exclusively through ROA’s four Experience Centers. They are in Lindon, Utah, Mesa, Arizona, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Duncan, South Carolina. Visits are by appointment. Deliveries began in October 2026, so the first owners are just getting theirs now. At 27 feet and nearly 10,000 pounds dry, it also demands a tow vehicle and a campsite to match. But if the goal is a trailer that goes anywhere and lives like a house, this is the current benchmark.
