It’s nestled in the Quartier Montorguil, which quickly became one of my favorite areas in the city. It’s quieter than you might expect for such a central location, but you’re still just minutes from the hustle and bustle. Getting there was also straightforward. We traveled by train from Charles de Gaulle, took the direct line to Les Halles, then walked the last few minutes to the property. If you don’t want to think about logistics, they can also arrange for airport pickup.
The morning began with a stroll past the greengrocers set up for the day and more bakeries than anyone could possibly justify visiting. We still tried. It’s the kind of neighborhood where you don’t need a plan, you just go out and things will fall into place.
Much more than another Paris apartment
Inside, the first thing that strikes you is the space. Appropriate location. Not something you often say about accommodation in Paris. It’s open, bright and calm in a way that instantly makes you slow down a bit.
The ground floor is a large open-plan space, where the kitchen, dining and living areas blend into one another. We spent most of our time around the kitchen island, whether it was morning coffee or drinks before heading out. Skylights bring in plenty of natural light during the day, and in the evening we made good use of the projector and sound system. It’s very easy to convince yourself to stay inside.
There is also a double bedroom and a large bathroom on this level, which works especially well if you’re staying as a group or are looking for a spacious place to stay in Paris.
A place designed to slow you down
The upstairs is where it starts to feel more hidden. The main bedroom opens onto a private terrace, which was the ideal place to relax for half an hour after a day exploring the city.
The en suite is absolutely worth mentioning for the bath: one of those deep Japanese-style tubs that you don’t rush into. And the bed itself deserves a mention. After wandering around the city for a long time, it was the kind of bed you fall on and don’t move for a while.
Up here there’s another bedroom, a second living space and a proper work area, which came in surprisingly handy. It never felt like we were on top of each other, even with a full house.
unexpected addition
Then there’s the crypt, which ended up being one of the biggest surprises. There is a sauna, gym and shower, as well as a sofa that turns into a second bed.
After walking 30,000 steps most days, the sauna seemed like a great idea. It’s not something you’d expect in central Paris accommodation, but it makes a real difference.
Industrial design with a story behind it
In terms of design, it doesn’t feel overly polished or staged. It’s a mix of old objects, lots of bold red and orange, which contrasts with the original structure of the building. You notice the contradiction more than anything, and it works. It feels like a space that people actually use, not just a space designed for photos.
There is also a little history behind this. The building dates from the 1870s, around the time of Gustave Eiffel, and was later used as a printing house by the French Resistance. It’s not overstated, but knowing it adds something to the pause.
One of the best touches came early on. We found the fridge stocked with some essentials, champagne and fresh fruits. Nothing too extravagant, but exactly what you want after a trip. It set the tone immediately.
The concierge and local contacts were really helpful without being pushy. We got a list of nearby places to try, which made the most of the trip.
final thoughts
Space is probably LoftFactory’s greatest luxury. In a city where hotel rooms and apartments often feel compact, having somewhere to properly spread out changes the pace of travel. Whether you’re visiting Paris with friends, traveling as a family or simply want a place with more character than a standard hotel, this is a place you’ll be talking about long after you’ve checked out.
It’s a place where you settle in very quickly. The combination of location, location and thoughtful touches means it never feels like a typical vacation rental.
