Nissan's comeback story continues, remains America's fastest growing mainstream brand

Fresh from the brink of what looked like disaster just a few years ago, Nissan is in the midst of a renaissance that once seemed unfathomable. With Q2 2026 now comfortably in the books, Nissan is revealing sales data that appears to be about to reverse the company’s fortunes.

A total of 242,741 units were sold at Nissan-operated dealerships in the second quarter of 2026, up 9.6 percent from the same quarter in 2025. This figure includes both Nissan products and their upmarket cousins in Infiniti, although Infiniti on its own managed to stay roughly level year-on-year in total sales, but retail sales declined by 3.7 percent. Across Nissan’s range, leading lights like the class sales-leading Rogue saw sales grow by a stunning 29.4 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter. Elsewhere, the pint-sized Sentra sedan and midsize Frontier pickup saw year-over-year increases of 33.3 and 36.8 percent.

Even amid a very slight decline in sales, the Armada-based QX80 has recorded its Q2 sales data with over 3,300 units shifted so far. In a stunning performance, the all-new QX65 Sportback sold 1,000 units in its first months on sale. For Nissan, this news may indicate that the internal matter surrounding the exit of its controversial former CEO Carlos Ghosn is indeed behind them. After the failed merger with Honda early last year, the two automakers are more likely to collaborate on a future full-size truck offering for both brands rather than merge.

At a time when customers are focused on maximizing the value of every dollar they spend, our lineup is delivering with the right mix of strong quality, capability and products,” said Tiago Castro, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Nissan America. “Our focus remains on selling cars, making money and providing customers an exceptional experience. Our retail sales have increased by 10% to 20% every month over the last 12 months. “We are meeting our focus goals, and we have another strong quarter.”
