NBL and Movember team up for men’s health

The National Basketball League (NBL) on Monday announced a new partnership with Movember, the world’s leading men’s health charity, which joins the league as its first Impact Partner.

Together, Movember and the NBL will harness the power and connection of basketball to spark meaningful conversations about men’s health, and encourage men and boys to take action to improve their health, including checking in with their mates.

The partnership tips off on Monday 2 November with a mental health Mo-ment Against Silence at the Melbourne United v New Zealand Breakers game at John Cain Arena. The ‘PLAY IT LOUD, SAY IT LOUDER’ activation will remind every spectator that staying connected and open is one of the best things we can do for our health.

Through the NBL, Movember will reach basketball communities

Through the NBL, Movember will reach basketball communities across Australia and New Zealand, from sold-out arenas to Saturday morning local games, where every court is a place to grow healthier men and healthier communities.

“Movember and the NBL are two organisations that like to challenge the way things are done, and have fun while doing it,” Samantha Green, NBL Chief Commercial Officer, said.

“We both speak to young men and the families who support them, and we both want to make things better.

“Basketball brings people together like few things do, which makes it a natural place to start conversations that matter.

“Movember has changed the conversation on men’s health around the world, and we’re proud to partner with them as the league’s first Impact Partner.”

Kieran Ryan, Movember Director of Partnerships, added, “Movember’s a team sport, and we’ve just signed an outstanding teammate in the NBL. Basketball is brilliant for young men and boys.

It gets them moving, keeps them connected,

“It gets them moving, keeps them connected, and wraps them in a community who checks in if something’s not right.

“With the NBL, we’re on a shared mission to keep young people and their families in the game longer and help them be better equipped to handle whatever comes their way, both on and off the court.”

Fans can support Movember by signing up through the NBL Mo Space at movember.com and making a Growmitment for men’s health alongside the league and its players.
