The famous toy brick company unveiled the world’s largest World Cup trophy at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City on Monday. LEGO unveiled the giant trophy with the help of Brazil legend Cafu, the only footballer to play in three consecutive World Cup finals and win two.

Kaifu was there with the fans and putting the final pieces together. The unveiling of the recreation of the iconic trophy marks the official opening of the LEGO Fan Zone in the city, which is set for the World Cup final later this month.

As far as the trophy goes, Lego says the World Cup trophy recreation is approximately 27 feet tall and more than 1,363,402 Lego bricks were used.

It took a team of 59 designers, engineers, model builders and technicians eight months to develop and more than 7,000 hours of manufacturing and assembly at the LEGO Group’s model production facility in Kladno, Czech Republic.

Cantu said, “The FIFA World Cup trophy is one of the most iconic symbols in sport, and to see it recreated on this scale with LEGO bricks is truly incredible. The craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail is remarkable. Football has always been about bringing people together.” “Whether you’re playing on the street, cheering from the stands or watching with family and friends, it’s one of the greatest tools of social inclusion in the world. And this installation is a great way to celebrate that feeling ahead of the FIFA World Cup finals stage.”
