Hyundai has issued a recall for 96,310 SUVs. Vehicles may have an instrument panel display that may go blank while driving.

The recall affects the 2025-2026 Tucson, which also includes two hybrid variants. according to recall reportA software logic problem between the instrument panel and the head-up display may cause the display to intermittently reboot during operation.

If this occurs, the driver may be unable to see important vehicle gauges, such as the speedometer and fuel gauge, or vehicle notifications. Vehicles with this problem fail to meet federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Hyundai began an investigation in July 2025 after a customer reported the display was intermittently not working. Over the next 10 months, Hyundai eventually discovered an intermittent connection problem with the HUD external harness that could cause the screen to reboot and issued a recall earlier this month.

Hyundai says it is not aware of any accidents, fires, injuries or deaths related to this issue. The automaker will direct affected owners to bring their vehicles to a Hyundai dealer. A technician will update the vehicle’s instrument panel software, but the automaker is working on an over-the-air update that Hyundai will release when it becomes available.

Motor1’s Opinion: As automakers stuff more software into cars, it can be a challenge to get all that code working flawlessly as designed. It seems that not just Hyundai, but many automakers are suffering from software issues that cause in-car displays to glitch out – and that’s dangerous.
