Several people will put their money where their muscle is to help underprivileged children at a charity workout event.

BEFIT, located at unit 108 20530 Langley Bypass, has hosted a fun competition that supports the Langley Christmas Bureau for several years during which teams of people compete in fitness challenges.

For 14 years, we’ve been bringing our community

“For 14 years, we’ve been bringing our community together for a morning of fitness and fundraising to help support local families in need during the Christmas season,” said co-owner Josh Saunders.

The annual Langley Christmas Bureau Charity Bootcamp starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.

“It’s a team-based fitness challenge combining strength exercises like bicep curls and pushups, cardio like rowing, bike, and sled push, and core.

They work through a series of exercises, with teams competing to accumulate the most repetitions as a team in three minutes with a three-minute rest between stations.

Our regular workouts already have great energy,

“Our regular workouts already have great energy, but this event takes it to another level,” Saunders said. “Anyone is welcome, so we have our members, their friends and family, and all our coaches there together for one big team workout. There’s some friendly competition, and people really push themselves, but at the end of the day, it’s about everyone coming together as a community to help local families have a better Christmas.

The exercises are scalable to different fitness levels, so everyone can participate regardless of their experience. But it’s definitely a challenging workout, he said.

“The event is open to everyone, with a $15 donation for non-members and optional donations for BEFIT members. All proceeds will go directly to the Langley Christmas Bureau,” he added.

“When we started these events back in 2010, we never imagined how much of an impact our gym community could make. It’s something we’re really proud of,” he said.

The 2025 event brought together seven personal trainers, and 71 people formed up into 12 teams to raise $2,041 for the charity.

“Since starting these annual Christmas charity workouts in 2010, we’ve raised over $24,000,” he added. “With those funds, we sponsor a local Langley family in need, or two, and buy them all their presents and food for the season. We try to go over the top a bit for them to help the best we can. And if there is any money left over, that is donated to the Langley Christmas Bureau directly.”
