Why do we like this deal?

Military training exercises aren’t typically included in mainstream fitness (with good reason), but rucking is an exception, with trainers and researchers continuing to point to it as a way to build strength and cardio without the joint pounding that comes with running. GoRuck built its entire business around that change, and its Rucker line is still the default recommendation for anyone getting into racking. As part of GoRuck’s X-Mas sale in July, the recently released Rucker 5.0 is 30% off.

The price of the $265 GoRuck Rucker 5 has dropped to $185 on the brand’s site, and sales like this don’t really happen often, especially for bestsellers. All six colorways are on sale for the same price, and you can choose between 20L and 25L versions at no extra cost.

What shoppers need to know

  • Material: 1000D Cordura body, 210D HT Cordura back panel and straps at the bottom
  • Capacity: 20L or 25L, dual high pockets hold ruck plates up to 75 pounds
  • features: Magnetic interior pocket, built-in frame sheet, padded straps, lumbar support panel, mole webbing
  • Best for: Rucking Workout, Weighted Hiking, Functional Fitness Training

Racking is pretty straightforward: It’s walking with a weighted vest on your back, which adds extra resistance to your workout and burns about three times more calories than walking alone. The Rucker 5 itself is straightforward. It’s just a backpack that you load with flat, square weight plates up to 75 pounds and use for hiking and fitness.

In this latest iteration, the 5.0 Rucksack, GoRuck has added magnetic pockets to replace the Velcro (making it sleeker), as well as higher ruck plate pockets to keep the weight higher and tighter on your shoulders to prevent lower back strain.

Most beginners start at 20 to 30 pounds and move up in 10-pound increments, making the 20L rucker with a 20-pound plate the standard entry setup. Runners cross-training, lifters wanting low-impact cardio, and anyone trying to get back into a workout after a break will benefit most from this setup.

what shoppers are saying

This rucksack has earned its 4.8-star rating, with one buyer writing, “Nothing compares to this bag in terms of durability and feeling of comfort for long rucks.” A second reviewer said, “Feels solid, straps are comfortable even when loaded, no shifting or awkward shifting yet.”

If you’ve tried racking before but didn’t find it right or comfortable, many have found that the Rucker 5 changes that. One buyer who had tried racking in the past and found it uncomfortable tried the Rucker 5 and wrote, “It’s definitely worth the money, and it’s like comparing night and day in terms of comfort and performance compared to other options”.

The GoRuck Rucker 5 is still on top for some reason, and now that it’s $80 off, it’s a good time to see what the hype is about. Just keep in mind that you have until July 15 to make it available for sale.
