A former WWE Champion and Hall of Famer has confirmed that he will never step back in the ring.
Other wrestling icons like Ric Flair, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels ended long retirements to come back for another match. In Austin’s case, his victory over Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 was his first wrestling match in 19 years.
Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Batista (real name Dave Bautista) retired after losing to Triple H at WrestleMania 35, his first match in five years. So, can the six-time world champion end another long hiatus in the ring and return for another match?
Although he is still in excellent condition, “The Animal” stressed during an interview that he has no desire to wrestle again. black oven (h/t wrestlinginc.com).
“It’s hard to walk away from it,” Bautista said. “Most people don’t retire. And that’s why it’s almost like a joke when wrestlers retire, because they never retire. They retire five times. And there are guys like that, they always thought through these years I would come back, I would come out of retirement, and I told them over and over again I wouldn’t do that. I had a (expletive) ending to the story and I wouldn’t write on this (expletive).”
Batista said he would prefer to “do physical work” and take a “break” before returning to the squared circle.
He said, “I’ll never wrestle again…I just had the best…I went out the way I wanted, with the guy I wanted to go out with.” “It’ll never be this good again and I’m not going to screw it up. And I feel really good about it. Like, I’m very proud of the way it turned out.”

Batista left WWE in bitter mood in 2010 and 2014 due to creative frustrations. Ultimately, he returned in 2019 to begin a program with his former Evolution mentor and leader, Triple H.
Despite being away from the ring for five years, the two-time WWE Champion looked like a sharp and experienced veteran after his loss to Triple H. Batista was happy with how his career ended and it was only fitting that Triple H got the honor of retiring him.
Shawn Michaels made the mistake of coming back for another match in 2018 after having a perfect retirement bout against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. Batista will never top his send-off with The Game, so it would be wise for him to commit to retirement.
