Ford has a secret website to show us its latest pickup truck

Ford’s latest pickup truck prototype was first spotted in the wild just about a week ago. There was something hidden in the cover of the car. It was a QR code that linked to a Ford website that has more information about this as-yet-unnamed new pickup truck that’s going on sale next year. Let’s dig!

Official details are scant, so it’s a treat to learn more about Ford’s new “Model T moment.” Ford called it an announcement of the company’s new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform and new manufacturing process.

The first vehicle on the UEV platform will be a small “midsize” pickup. If you don’t like calling such a thing a “truck”, maybe we can agree to call it a pickup. It has a small pickup bed.

Ford published at least three short video clips of this new vehicle. A video clip shows it testing at Ford’s Arizona Proving Grounds (APG). Another clip shows and describes the prototype testing in the snow of Northern Michigan (UP). The third clip shows a prototype being assembled in the “Chapel of Love” – Ford’s NMPDC facility in Allen Park, Michigan.

Ford says – this new pickup will be available for sale next year in 2027. It’s coming soon, and it appears the company is conducting a variety of real-world testing. They show it testing in hot weather and cold weather, including traction and stability testing in snow.

What do you think Ford will call this new pickup? How about “Ranchero”?

While we wait for more details, here is our latest video with the two new 2026 Ford Maverick pickups. We wanted to see the difference between the 2.0L turbo Maverick and the gas/electric hybrid on our Denver 100 MPG loop. The real-world figures were surprising.
