The Ferrari Luce is one of the year’s most interesting new vehicles, thanks in no small part to a controversial design that radically departs from the brand’s long history of sleek performance cars. Buyers will be getting their hands on the electric Ferrari soon enough—and now, we have a sense what they will be paying to roll around in the company’s most unique design to date. Ferrari’s first electric vehicle starts at $560,800, the company has confirmed to Road & Track—or $39.44 million less than what a buyer spent on the first production Luce at Monterey Car Week.

That number is around $50,000 under the ≈$600,000 estimate first shared when the car was revealed this summer, but the savings do not exactly make it a bargain. It starts at a higher number than both the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and its internal combustion cousin the Ferrari Purosangue, making it the most expensive standard production SUV or crossover on the U.S. market by starting price.

Crucially, we do not know how the price can increase from there. Ferraris—and just about all other modern low-production performance and luxury cars—can jump up significantly in price with both regular and bespoke options. Once those options are factored in, the Luces that actually reach customers could end up either significantly more (or less) expensive than the average Purosangue or Cullinan in owner hands.

What we do know is that the transaction starts at over half a million dollars before taxes, delivery charges, or other fees making just about any Luce a seriously expensive endeavor. Buyers who get a Luce will be able to say that they have Ferrari’s first EV, though—a major bragging point for many, even if they have to spend a lot of their time defending the design to their friends.
