When Cody Rhodes was asked about the current face of WWE, he presented a very hot style.
At most points in history, there was rarely any debate about the face of WWE in any given era. For a decade, it was unquestionably Hulk Hogan. After Hogan’s departure it was a mixture of Bret Hart, Ultimate Warrior and Shawn Michaels.
Then in the Attitude Era there was ‘Stone Cold Steve Austin’, with The Rock right behind him. John Cena became the new face of the company in 2005 and remained in this position for almost a decade. And despite vocal opposition from fans, Roman Reigns was pushed forward as the No. 1 star from 2016 to 2024.
during an appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show” (h/t 411mania.com), Rhodes was asked about being the company’s top star. The WWE Champion initially said that it is up to each fan who they see as the face of WWE.
Rhodes said, “I would say the face of WWE is whoever you are, as a fan and not aerial, you as a broadcast journalist or someone in the media area and as a wrestling fan, but especially you as a fan, whoever you consider to be the face of WWE is the face of WWE.” “And the beautiful thing now is that there are more than two candidates, maybe even five.”
Rhodes was then asked to choose the current face of WWE. Although he initially wanted to select a group, American Nightmare went with their own:
Rhodes said, “You know what? Actually, I’ve changed my mind.” “Yeah, I’m not going to do the grouping because confidence is a big part of what you do, and especially when you have the potential, when you have the WWE Championship, which is still the richest prize in all of sports. I’m going to go ahead and say this on your show as a guy who has played darts with you before. I’m the face of WWE.”
However, personal success and status as a full-time main event star certainly supports Rhodes’ claim. Since returning to WWE in 2022, Rhodes has won four world championships (three WWE and one Universal titles). At WrestleMania 40, he broke Reigns’ 1,316-day reign as Universal Champion.

Rhodes will try to maintain his long title reign by defending the WWE Championship against Sami Zayn and Gunther in a Triple Threat match at Saturday’s Night of Champions pay-per-view.
Night of Champions will take place inside the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At last year’s event, Rhodes defeated Randy Orton to win the King of the Ring tournament.
