Who are you rooting for?
Trinity and Bryce are amazing, although I was really disappointed in Bryce (during movie night), really disappointed in him. It’s really fun to see how men become men, no matter what. And I think if Bryce continues his relationship with Zach and remains a teenage boy, he’ll lose Trinity by the end, and the audience too, and Carl and Ania will take it over. Can we talk about Carl for a second?
Please, let me hear all your thoughts Carl.
Carl is moderately boring, which I think is his biggest crime in the house. The editors don’t want to find funny things for him. But I will also say, Ania is also (boring), and I think they seem like the kind of boring, comfortable couple I would love to go on vacations with, and I hope she knows that’s a good thing. I think especially when you’re young, you find relationships like Melanie and the Sinceres fascinating, because the loud, angry passion feels like love, because that’s what we see in the movies. And I really think what I’ve learned is that love for me, or the best love for me, is the kind of love that’s really comfortable to the point that it’s stable, to the point that it almost feels boring.
Carl clearly doesn’t put pressure on Ania like Casey does, and I’m like, That’s good, that’s great! I love seeing you relax!
The other person I haven’t talked about at all is Corbyn. I love that Corbyn is fearless, he doesn’t take crap, and he knows he doesn’t take crap. He’s a real, factual no-nonsense guy, but in a sweet way to me too. I think there’s something really scary about Casey and Sincere and Zach, in the sense that they don’t know how nefarious they are. And he’s just like, “Yeah, no, I’m dirty.”
Who will you remove from the island next?
I’ll leave Casey and Titi. Oh, actually… God, this is so hard. I would actually give up Kenzie. Yeah, I’ll leave out Kenzie and Dylan because I think Casey and Titi still have more work to do. I think Kenzie’s done, I think Kenzie got too close to the sun. I think it was very embarrassing to do that to Jane. I just can’t.
What has been your favorite moment of this season so far?
I’d say it’s a tie between the two most (scripted-seeming) moments of the season. I don’t know whether he wrote it already in his mind in preparation, or whether it actually came out of the dome that way, but (Ania’s) “I chose you” speech-Fire. He will be edited for years.
And then Build-A-Bear Speech. I was like, Melanie, where did this come from? And then I would say, honorable mention because this is not one moment, every ad that came out of Trinity’s mouth throughout the season is why she’s the winner.
