Canadian Podcast Awards nominations open - PodcastingToday

Nominations for the 9th Canadian Podcast Awards are now open, giving those who work in Canadian podcasting the opportunity to recognise their peers across 31 categories.

Members of the Canadian podcasting industry can nominate any eligible show, including their own, in categories covering comedy, true crime, arts, sports, current affairs, and more.

The most nominated shows in each category will move forward to a vote by all registered members, while the public will have a say through the People’s Choice category.

To be eligible, shows must be produced

To be eligible, shows must be produced in Canada, have a primarily Canadian team and majority Canadian hosts, and must have released at least five episodes in 2025.

Anyone who is Canadian and works in podcasting can register for free at the Canadian Podcast Awards website.

Last year saw more than 2,200 nominations submitted, with the number of people nominating increasing by over a third compared to previous years.

Nominations close on 14 November, with voting taking place from 17 November to 2 December.

Winners will be announced in an online broadcast on 16 December.

John Leschinski, Founder of the Canadian Podcast Awards,

John Leschinski, Founder of the Canadian Podcast Awards, said: “We Canadians have a habit of waiting for someone else, somewhere else, to tell us our work matters.

“These awards exist so that the people making Canadian podcasts can recognize each other and say that the shows made here deserve to be celebrated here.

“Canadian culture has long been easy to take for granted, but backing our own voices matters more now than ever. If we don’t celebrate Canadian podcasts, nobody will do it for us.”

The Canadian Podcast Awards, started in 2018 by PodCamp Toronto, are run by a volunteer team and recognise both independent creators and established media.
