Brembo has chosen the Superbike World Championship as the stage to usher in a new era in motorcycle braking technology. Starting in 2027, the Italian manufacturer will officially introduce Hyction™, a new carbon-ceramic braking material developed to provide high levels of performance, stability and durability in one of the most demanding environments in motorsport.
This announcement represents one of Brembo’s most significant technological developments in recent years and further strengthens the company’s long-standing relationship with motorcycle racing. Throughout its history, many braking solutions now found on production motorcycles were first tested on the racetrack, and Hyction™ follows exactly the same development philosophy.

While the steel brake discs currently used in WorldSBK already provide exceptional performance, Brembo believes there is still room to improve braking stability throughout the race distance. The new material is engineered to maintain a more predictable feel in extreme temperatures, repeated heavy braking and changing weather conditions.
A major benefit of Hyction™ lies in thermal management. During a Superbike race, the braking system faces enormous stress, especially on circuits with aggressive braking zones. Maintaining stable and predictable performance when temperatures increase dramatically is one of the primary goals behind the new technology.
Apart from overall performance, Brembo has also focused on durability. Hyction™ is designed to reduce wear and improve component longevity, potentially providing teams greater operational efficiency over the course of a full championship season.
Another important advantage is technical simplification. Teams currently rely on different brake disc specifications depending on the characteristics of each circuit. With Hyction™, Brembo aims to reduce that dependence by providing a solution capable of delivering competitive performance in a wide range of racing conditions.
Sustainability also plays a role in the project. By extending component life and reducing the need for multiple brake configurations, the company expects to improve overall material efficiency throughout the season.
For Brembo, WorldSBK remains the perfect laboratory for the development of future technologies. The diversity of the championship’s circuits, riding styles and environmental conditions provides valuable real-world data that cannot be fully replicated through laboratory testing alone.
This project becomes even more important because, from 2027, Brembo will become the exclusive braking system supplier for the leading WorldSBK class. This position will allow the company to accelerate the development of new technology as well as work even more closely with teams and riders.
Ultimately, however, the goal extends far beyond racing. Like many previous innovations developed by the Italian manufacturer, Hyction™ is expected to pave the way for future on-road applications. It’s another example of Brembo’s long-standing “track to road” philosophy, where technologies proven in competition ultimately benefit riders around the world.
