BMW Motorrad MY27 Update
BMW Motorrad has detailed its model-year 2027 updates, and while much of the list is the familiar round of new colors, discontinued trims, and tweaks to option packages, there’s one notable hardware change hidden amid the housekeeping.
The M 1000 RR is the obvious headline act for 2027, getting a new third-generation M Motorsport frame as standard. BMW claims the new frame brings improved flex characteristics, approximately 1.3 kg less weight and a nearly 30 percent reduction in wall thickness, with stiffness and flexibility adjusted to improve chassis performance and grip.

This makes the MY27 update a little more significant than the usual colour-card shuffle. For track riders and superbike tragics, the frame change is the one item here that will matter beyond showroom presence or accessory value.

BMW has also worked on the way it structures its M packages in the M 1000 RR, M 1000 R and M 1000 XR. The previous M Competition package is gone, replaced by the new M Track and M Track II packages. Broadly speaking, the Track package is the more complete version, including carbon wheel content on some models, while the Track II package retains the lap-trigger, carbon and billet items but leaves the carbon wheel out of the bundle.

The M 1000 RR now comes standard with M forged wheels, with M carbon wheels becoming optional package content. The same reshuffle also reaches the S 1000 RR, where the M package now includes M forged wheels, while M carbon wheels have become an optional package selection.

S 1000 RR gets new M Sport look
The S 1000 RR also gets a new Style Edition M Sport color scheme in Blackstorm Metallic/M Motorsport with a tinted windscreen and M forged wheels. The outgoing Sport/Bluestone metallic finish has been dropped for 2027.

BMW has also added a USB charging port to the S 1000 RR Dynamic Package and Edition M Sport. It’s hardly a main feature, but it’s the kind of little usability that riders appreciate once they start driving real miles, or juggling phones and navigation between road and track duties.

The Naked S1000R’s Comfort package also features a USB charging port.

Useful changes to road limits
Moving away from high-end M machinery, both the F 900 XR and F 900 R get an updated comfort package that now includes BMW’s M Endurance series. Again, not glamorous, but the low-maintenance series is a practical inclusion on bikes that can be used for commutes, weekend trips, and long road trips.
The R 1300 R and R 1300 RS also get more practical touring options. Case holders are now available as factory equipment on the R 1300 RS Style Performance, while the R 1300 R gets left and right case holders as a factory option. The R 1300 R also includes a new Touring Package that bundles case holders, central locking, and a center stand.
This gives the naked Boxer a more obvious path into light sports-touring duty, rather than leaving owners to build that functionality through the accessories catalog after purchase.
K 1600 range gets edition refresh
BMW’s six-cylinder K 1600 family receives an extensive Styling Edition II refresh centered on Imperial Blue Metallic.

The K 1600 GT features Design Option wheels with wheel tape for the Style Edition II, while the K 1600 Edition treatment adds a black/yellow seat and yellow wheel tape. The K 1600 GTL also moves to Imperial Blue Metallic for Style Edition II and picks up a new black Option 719 bench seat and Option 719 forged wheels.

The K 1600 Bagger and Grand America also get the Imperial Blue Metallic Style Edition II treatment, with the previous option 719 finish removed from the range.

R12 G/S gets Frozen Brooklyn Grey
The R 12 G/S gets a new Frozen Brooklyn Gray metallic finish for the Style Option 719 and Option 719 II, replacing the previous Sandrover Uni matte finish.

It’s a cosmetic change, but on retro-influenced models like the R 12 G/S, paint and trim do a great deal of the heavy lifting. BMW’s Option 719 catalog has long been a go-to for buyers who care about base specifications as well as detail finish.

BMW says the updated model-year 2027 configuration will be available to order in European markets in August 2026, but Australian pricing and timing have not yet been confirmed.
