In Summer People by Sally Blakely, five college friends reunite every year at a seaside house in California with one rule: no dating within the group. Everett and Sutton broke it off in secret for years – until heartbreak ended everything. Five summers later, old traditions draw them back under the same roof, where suppressed emotions, forbidden chemistry, and a love they never forgot threaten to break the rules again.

There’s something about summer that makes me want to read romance. Although I sadly no longer get the long summer holidays of my school years (I will always mourn this), there is still a lightness in the air, an excitement, a feeling that anything is possible during summer. I’m more spontaneous, more open to adventure, and ready to do some extra reading, especially in the summer.

During this time of year, I find that my “relax and read” mentality leans toward summer romance books. Immersing yourself in these stories feels like dipping your feet in warm beach sand or munching on that perfectly roasted s’mores. There’s nothing more peaceful than reading a good summer romance this season.

Below, I’ve compiled a list of some of the best new summer romance books. All titles have been published this year and will be published during the summer. These include a wide range of sweet and steamy summer adventures including coastal settings, summer jobs, summer weddings and more.
