But for the sake of convenience and choice, we’ll ignore the oddity of combining both timeless American menswear pieces And A huge bag of dog food in the same shopping cart. Because one of the best Prime Day deals we’ve seen so far is a pair from Levi’s. 501
Big papa, no, grandfather Sir, In denim, 501 was first introduced in 1890 to help wranglers avoid the scratches of horse hair and desert brush. Over 130 years later and they’ve become one of the most instantly recognizable silhouettes in denim, tangling with all manner of Hollywood heartthrobs from Steve McQueen to Kurt Cobain. While denim fanatics may regret the brand’s departure from the use of shuttle looms, they still know that for the buck, the bang for the buck is right there. The 501 is the silhouette upon which many other models are modeled, and the 100% cotton version—currently on sale for Prime Day—is still a hit all these decades later.
501 Shrink-to-Fit
For denim obsessives, the 501 Shrink-to-Fit is where things start to get interesting. Cut from tough denim that’s designed to shrink and mold to your body over time, it’s the closest thing Levi’s offers to a participation sport. The process requires a little patience — and probably a bathtub — but the payoff is a pair of jeans that feel uniquely yours. They’re still classic 501s, just a little more personalized to you than standard issue.
